Young lad's licence excitement

A YOUNG mine worker was over the moon the day after getting his HR truck licence.

The lad aged in his 20s was told that gaining such a licence would enhance his prospects for higher remuneration and promotion.

"I am pretty happy to get the licence and have always wanted to be a truck driver," he said.

The licence will enable him to drive several rigs at the mine but gives him the opportunity to gain employment as a truck driver.

That is his aim in the short term and also get some lessons in a bid for a heavy vehicle licence.

Spy asked him if he would have his picture snapped and a story about it.

But he declined but will certainly agree when he does become a fulltime driver.
