WORK and play is no longer confined to the dual cab ute market.
Volkswagen has added the Caddy Maxi Crewvan to its commercial vehicle range, which adds a three-seater in the back.
The split-fold seat can also be removed to increase the load capability from 1.6m3 to 4.1m3.
Pricing is $1500 more than the standard Maxi Van, with retail prices starting from $29,490 for the five-speed manual or $32,490 for the seven-speed dual clutch automatic.
VW made the decision following dealership feedback, with buyers getting after-market bench seats fitted for about $3000.
Maximum load length is 2.25m (with seats removed) and payload is 709kg (manual) courtesy of new 16-inch wheels.
Rear barn doors are standard equipment but a tailgate is available as a no-cost option.
Under the bonnet is a 75kW 1.6-litre turbo diesel which generating 250Nm of torque.
Average fuel consumption is claimed at 5.9 litres/100km (CO2 155g/km) for both the manual and DSG versions.
The Caddy Maxi Crewvan is based on the MY13 Caddy Maxi Van, but receives the following additional standard equipment:

• Fabric seat cover "Timo"
• Back rest release for front seats
