Woman suffers head, spinal injuries on Tabletop Mountain
UPDATE, 1PM: A woman has been airlifted to Brisbane after falling on Tabletop Mountain this morning.
The woman suffered head and suspected spinal injuries in the fall near the saddle area of the popular walking track.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews on the ground worked with paramedics to stabilise the woman and prepare her for a vertical rescue.
A spokeswoman from QG Air Brisbane confirmed the Rescue 500 helicopter was deployed to Tabletop Mountain about 10.05am with reports the woman had suffered injuries.
The spokeswoman said helicopter crews performed a winch rescue and airlifted the woman to the Princess Alexandra
Hospital in a stable condition.
EARLIER, 11AM: Emergency services are preparing to airlift a woman who fell while climbing Tabletop Mountain this morning.
The woman is believed to have suffered an injury near the saddle on the popular walking track and called for Queensland Ambulance assistance about 10am.
Due to the terrain and the location, paramedics then called for Queensland Fire and Emergency Services support to assist in the incident.
Two QFES technical rescue officers have made access to the woman and are working with paramedics coordinating an airlift from the mountain.
The Rescue 500 helicopter was deployed and arrived at the scene shortly before 11am.
The woman's injuries are unclear at this stage, but an emergency services spokesman said it was likely she would be airlifted.
