With a VIEW to helping disadvantaged kids this Christmas

BUDERIM VIEW Club members are urging the community to support disadvantaged children with their education by donating to The Smith Family's 2016 Christmas Appeal.

VIEW stands for the Voice, Interests and Education of Women, boasting more than 16,000 members nationally across 330 clubs - all working together in support of children's education charity The Smith Family.

The appeal is aiming to raise $3.66 million nationally this year.

The funds raised will help 8715 disadvantaged children across Australia get the extra learning and mentoring support they need to create better futures for themselves.

Buderim VIEW Club president Sylvia Barrett said members were proud to be supporting the appeal.

"Children supported by The Smith Family are from struggling families where affording life's basics is a struggle,” she said.

"Over half live in single-parent homes and 40% of the children have a disability or health issue.

"All of these challenges can have a negative impact on a child's ability to participate at school, and without extra support, these children are likely to fall behind, have difficulty catching up and become disengaged with their education.

"We know that education is a pathway out of poverty and The Smith Family's learning support programs have proven highly effective in boosting the educational outcomes of disadvantaged children.”
