Wilmington road train yard to close

THE road train yard at Wilmington in South Australia will be closed indefinitely from July 30.

Owner Nathan Mahoney confirmed the news to Big Rigs today.

He said the private yard had been operational for 25 years, however, due to low customer numbers and route changes, they'd made the decision to close.

"We've been like a charity for the last three years," he said.

Mr Mahoney's mother Annette Honan, who has been managing the business, said she was sad the time had finally come to close.

"It's been a pleasure," she said.

"It's been wonderful listening to their (the truck drivers) stories and I'm really sad we have to close."

After July 30, no one will be able to access the Wilmington site, so drivers can instead use the Quorn site further down the highway.
