IF YOU can't find some fair dinkum fun to keep you occupied on Australia Day, you might have your eyes painted on... as the Aussie saying goes.

Citizens will celebrate our national holiday with a range of events.

Wake up bright and early to the sound of the bushman's clock and head to Glengallan Homestead for the chance to flex your patriotic muscles in a thong throwing competition that kicks off at 8.45am.

Stick around the stunning sandstone estate for the official Warwick Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony which starts at 10am to commemorate the work of local legends and welcome new citizens to the country we are proud to call home.

Guests can be whisked into a world of classic Aussie memories with award-winning bush poet Nerelie Teese, who will share wisdom gleaned from a life in the bush as the region's official Australia Day Ambassador.

Other activities include whip cracking, billy boiling, wood-chopping and a pie eating competition before enjoying musical performances well into the night.

But the smell of bacon, eggs and billy tea may entice some to travel further afield to the Pat Bush Bicentennial Park (aka Lions Park), where the Lions Club are putting on a big Aussie breakfast.

Rumour has it that's where local member James Lister will be celebrating his Australia Day.

The Killarney Lions Club will recognise residents for their achievements over the past 12 months in an awards ceremony.

Kids will take centre stage in the Tim Brossnan Aussie Quest, which encourages the young ones to have a crack at some classic Aussie songs and poetry.

The tradition lives on in memory of local legend Tim Brossnan, a bushy who loved a yarn and a sing along with the kids.

But Allora residents will be quacking to a different tune this Aussie Day, with the annual Dalrymple Duck Race at the Allora Pool.

Starting at 3pm, industrial fans will blow 400 yellow rubber ducks across the surface of the pool to raise funds for the Allora Showgirl quest.
