Why Michelle Landry is the $5 million woman

MEMBER for Capricornia Michelle Landry told her critics to get their heads out of the sand last week.

The rookie MP lashed out after copping flak in the Bully's online and SMS columns about her performance.

Ms Landry produced figures that show she's the region's $5m woman.

A statement released by her office late Friday afternoon said Ms Landry has secured more than $5.2m in funding for projects and services in the local community in the last 129 days.

That's equivalent to $40,980 a day for every day since she was elected.

"Many critics, with their heads stuck in the sand, have been asking on media sites recently what am I doing for our local region?" Ms Landry said.

"I am working hard and methodically to lobby for funding to benefit a wide section of the Capricornia community."

In the latest funding announcement last week, Ms Landry said community groups assisting older people in need of care would share in more than $2.46m of social services funding.

"Seniors in Capricornia will get extra support and care services, such as cleaning, meals, nursing care and transport, in a bid to help them remain living independently at home thanks to funding under our Commonwealth Home and Community Care (HACC) program," the MP said.

"Older people who have contributed to Capricornia all their lives should have the support and care they need to continue to live at home as long as they choose."

The HACC funding comes on top of $300,000 secured for a local Meals on Wheels kitchen, funding for Men's Shed projects in Clermont and north Rockhampton, and a further $2.1m for an important project of which details will be announced this week.
