Whitsunday airport could welcome international flights
WHITSUNDAY Regional Council is in negotiations to deliver an international charter program to the Whitsunday Coast Airport in 2016, subject to regulatory approval, mayor Jennifer Whitney confirmed.
"While discussions are ongoing, we remain confident that we will be able to secure an international charter program in 2016," Mayor Whitney said.
"Before securing any international charter program, however, we have to ensure that the Whitsunday Coast Airport complies with stringent Federal Government requirements," she said.
"We are actively working with all parties to ensure all requirements are met and international flights can be accommodated."
