Where you can see the best Christmas lights

RESIDENTS are decking out their homes with Christmas lights and ornaments in preparation for the annual Mundubbera Christmas Light Up competition.

With judging set to take place on Wednesday night, last minute works are being undertaken to ensure it's ready to go.

The Mundubbera Enterprise Association has run the competition for the past 35 years and this year have organised it in partnership with the North Burnett Regional Council.

Prizemoney for first place is $120, second place $90, third place $65 and an incentive prize of $25 is given to a candidate.

Deputy mayor Faye Whelan said having a Christmas competition in the region meant a lot to the entire community.

"The community loves to see Christmas celebrated,” Cr Whelan said.

"It's not only for the children but also for the adults, it gives you the Christmas spirit.”

Cr Whelan said it was good to see businesses are also getting behind the competition.

"The children enjoy driving around and seeing the great displays,” she said.

The results from the judging will be finalised on Thursday morning.

It is important to note that if it does rain on Wednesday night, the Christmas light competition may be postponed until Thursday night depending on the judges' availability.

Cr Whelan said the council decided to get on board the competition once council amalgamated in 2008.

"We've always had a Christmas light competition and after the amalgamation, the North Burnett Regional Council put up prize money and now it's a partnership between the Mundubbera Enterprise Association,” Cr Whelan said.

The council thanked residents across the North Burnett for getting involved this Christmas.
