The Dust of Uruzgan
Saturday from 6.30pm at the MECC, Alfred St, Mackay
Musician turned diplomat Fred Smith shares his experiences of Afghanistan, one song at a time in The Dust of Uruzgan at Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre on Saturday.
The show starts at 6.30pm. Former and current defence personnel, cadets and RSL clubs can access $22 tickets by using code ANZAC at the checkout.
Showgrounds markets on track
Saturday from 6am, Mackay Showgrounds
The Mackay Showgrounds Market is on again this Saturday for the second week in a row after being disrupted by Cyclone Debbie, at the regular location along the walkway.
You'll find the usual fresh produce, eggs, honey, arts and crafts, home-baked goodies, small goods and of course, great coffee.
The markets start on Saturday at 6am and finish at 10am.
A Fluting Romance

A Fluting Romance - Simone Maurer and Judith Brown is an afternoon of classical music with Simone Maurer (flute) and Judith Brown (piano).

Yoga workshops
Sunday, 1.30-7.30pm at Neighbourhood Yoga, 5 Holland St, Mackay
Visiting from The Yoga Den in Brisbane's West End, Dan Alder will teach two insightful yoga workshops followed by chai, curry and an evening of blissful music. In these workshops, Dan will be asking the big questions about being human. He will illustrate how an authentic yoga practice can help us rationalise and enjoy life through the up and downs.
April farm tour
Sunday from 9.30am at Freckle Farm, 247 Olletts Rd, Eton
If you want to see first-hand how they produce food in an environmentally and ethically responsible way, head along to a guided tour of Freckle Farm, led by owners Rob Bauman and Deb McLucas. There's free range chickens, pastured Berkshire pigs, Brahman and Nguni cross cattle and permaculture food forest and gardens to explore with produce available to purchase for a picnic.
Sarina Relay for Life
Kicks off at Sarina Showgrounds at 2pm on Saturday, followed by a night of fun and festivities, before the event ends 8am Sunday
At Relay For Life, teams of up to 15 people relay for 18 hours overnight to raise vital funds and awareness for Cancer Council Queensland's work in cancer control. There will be plenty of entertainment and fun for the whole family.
Fundraising market
Sunday from 9am-1pm at the Indoor Basketball Courts, Hoey St, Sarina
Alligator Creek Taekwon-Do is holding this indoor market to raise funds to aid in getting 20 local Taekwon-Do club students to a significant Gramdmaster Seminar in June this year in Woy Woy NSW.
Sausage sizzle
Sunday, 3-6pm at Koumala Park
The Koumala Progress Association would like to invite all locals from Koumala and surrounding areas for a get together/ catch up/ debrief... call it what you like. If you feel energetic bring your tennis racquet/ kites/ basketball/ footballs etc, if not just a chair (and an esky if wanted).
Mountain biking
Sunday from 2.30pm at Mad Mountain Bike Club, Glendaragh Rd, Mackay
It is a time trial event where each participant has 3 attempts to set their fastest time through MTB101. Riders leave in order of expected fastest to slowest. There will be self seeded A, B and C grades as well as Dirt Masters. Registration will be added as soon as it has been created.
