What you need to know to vote early in Warwick

WHILE the federal election campaign is at the halfway point, Southern Downs voters wanting to cast an early ballot will have to wait another week before the Warwick pre-polling booth opens.

The booth will be located inside the old Video Ezy store at 124 Palmerin St.

It will open on Monday, May 6 at 8.30am.

Stanthorpe residents will have to wait even longer.

Their pre-poll booth at the St Paul's Church hall in Corundum St does not open until May 13 at 8.30am.

The 2019 election has already set a record with an enrolment rate of 96.8 per cent.

About 52 million ballot papers will be printed and distributed for voting this federal election.

The ALP, LNP, Greens, One Nation, United Australia Party, Katter's Australian Party and Fraser Anning's Conservative National Party each nominated candidates for Maranoa.

Postal voting

Voters with mobility issues or those who will be out of the country during the election period have a postal ballot option.

To vote via mail register at the Australian Electoral Commission website.

The AEC will post a ballot, which you must complete and have witnessed by an Australian resident on or before election day.

If you are overseas and cannot find an Australian to witness your ballot, a defence force member from any Commonwealth nation will suffice.

Postal voters have until Friday, May 31 to mail their ballot papers.
