What you need to know about highway closures for GC600

CONSTRUCTION is underway for the 2019 Gold Coast 600 with this year's build predicted to take up to six weeks.

The construction period will put together several pedestrian bridges along the 2.96km street circuit.

A total 25km of track fencing is being brought in ahead of the event.

Event Manager Melissa Stephens said construction this week would focus on building pits trackside, with night works on the Gold Coast Highway starting this evening.

Last month it was revealed the Boost Mobile SUPER Trucks were returning to the event after more than a year of being banned.

The 600hp vehicles, previously barred on safety grounds, are one of multiple new drawcards for the major racing event.
