What this truckie thinks about pay rates

RE: Bruce Honeywill's story on money to be made in truck driving (Big Rigs, Edition #22)

BASED on a company operating truck and dog combinations doing Sydney local work.

Many drivers of these vehicles in reputable companies are on salary which is from $99,000pa through to $120,000pa for HC drivers.

SFM being on the lower scale and BFM on the higher scale.

(Driving brand new gear).

A driver that has just obtained their HC licence and is in training to operate a truck and dog combination are on around $1500pw gross.

They are paid extra for Saturday work at a rate of around $350-$450 per day.

HR drivers are on considerably less from what I know, but I am unable to quote their rates as I don't manage any.

There's big money to be made for drivers in tippers (mud carters) in Sydney at the moment due to the increase in infrastructure currently going on.

All drivers are home to be with their families every night also.
