Wet weather disrupts flights

PASSENGERS travelling to and from the Whitsunday Airport are facing disruptions due to today's bad weather.

The severe weather forced the cancellation of Virgin flight DJ1118 between Proserpine and Brisbane, a Whitsunday Regional Council spokeswoman said.

"Due to current inclement weather conditions currently being experienced in the Whitsunday region, Virgin flight DJ1118 due to arrive at Whitsunday Coast Airport today at 1:20pm and depart at 1:55pm has been cancelled," the spokeswoman said.

A QR National spokeswoman said heavy rainfall forced the closure of the railway track between Coppabella and the ports of Dalrymple Bay and Hay Point this morning.

It's believed the rain may have also impacted operations at Mackay Airport, however, no further details are available at this time.
