Brennan set to return in huge boost for Dogs

WESTERN Bulldogs captain Katie Brennan is a chance to return for the flag favourites on Saturday against GWS in Canberra.

The star forward injured her ankle against Adelaide in Round 3 and hasn't played since, but received a good report from her specialist on Monday and was expected to train fully this week.

Saturday's game against the Giants is probably a long shot and she is more likely to return when the Bulldogs play the Demons in Round 7 ahead of a potential grand final berth on March 24.

A win against the Giants on Saturday would guarantee the 4-1 Dogs a place in the season decider.

The AFL is yet to reveal its grand final ground preference should the Bulldogs finish on top, but if the Bulldogs were to hold on and face an interstate side, then Whitten Oval remains a possibility.

An all-Victoria decider would most likely be played at Ikon Park, which can hold 24,000 people, while the Gabba would host if Brisbane, currently second and with a percentage buffer over Melbourne in third, clinched top spot.
