TV weather presenter broadcasting from whale watching boat

AS THE sun rises over Fraser Island, the Channel Seven Sunrise weather crew will broadcast to the homes of thousands of Australians from aboard whale watching boat Whalesong.

For the second day in a row, Sunrise weather presenter Edwina Bartholomew is broadcasting from Hervey Bay, exposing the area to a national audience.

The Channel Seven personality was on Pelican Bank on Wednesday, a sandbar between Hervey Bay and Fraser Island.

Edwina said she put a call out on the local news on Wednesday night for people to join the whale watching cruise but they had to be at the Urangan marina at 3am.

"I didn't think anyone would turn up," she said but a small group has joined the Sunrise crew on Whalesong.

As a whale surfaced beside the boat, she described it as "absolutely spectacular".
