FROM the Tour of Toowoomba to the local footy, residents in the Garden City love sport.

Parents pack the local parks on weekends to watch the rugby league, cricket, basketball and many other codes.

The Chronicle's team of sports reporters are passionate about both local and national sporting events.

Reporter Glen McCullough said the team had written dozens of stories before, after and during the Tour of Toowoomba this year.

He said it was expanding and developing every year.

"We're always looking to increase our coverage as the Tour continues to grow," he said.

"It's on the verge of becoming a truly international event.

"The Chronicle has been there since day one."

He said events like the Tour of Toowoomba were enormous additions to the Toowoomba sporting calendar.

Other major events The Chronicle is there to cover include the Queensland PGA Championship at City Golf Club and the Toowoomba International tennis tournament.

The community loves sport and The Chronicle does too.
