We don’t care if it’s raining ... it’s school holidays!

FLEECY jumpers, card games and plenty of giggles rugged up next to the heater were the order of the day for these best friends.

Lauren, Jordan, Alyssa, Tahlia and Sophie took a break from fishing to head indoors yesterday in a grey, gloomy and cold start to week two of the school holidays.

June ended just as it started - raining. And there is more to come with above average rainfall forecast for the rest of July. But a bit of rain did not stop the girls having a great time on their Sunshine Coast getaway at Cotton Tree Holiday Park.

Lauren and Sophie's mum Kylie Robinson said the family packed up their camping gear and travelled up the road from Woombye for a beach break.

"People travel from Victoria and all over to come here, why not holiday at home?" Mrs Robinson said. "We have a beautiful place right here on our doorstep. We don't mind the rain, the kids entertain themselves and we still get to the movies or the cafes."

The Bureau of Meteorology figures showed just 4mm of rain fell at Maroochydore yesterday but the fresh SE-SW winds whipped up a cool chill.

However, the clouds will clear and the sun will be out by the end of this week ... but for who knows how long.

>> The forecast

  • Today: 13-21, showers clearing
  • Wednesday: 14-22, mostly cloudy
  • Thursday: 14-22, cloudy
  • Friday: 14-23, sunny
  • Saturday: 12-23 sunny
  • Sunday: 12-22 shower
