Watch out for 'silly' motorists

WHEN thinking about truckie Jeff Robinson's recent comments about "other motorists do some silly things”, Hendrik Riessen came up with an interesting point.

"(It) comes down to professionals versus amateurs, trucking is one of the few occupations where non-professionals are allowed in the workplace,” he said.

"Thus we have to be alert for their mistakes, just part of the job.”

Nick Kuys said he learnt to "drive around everyone else's stupidity a long time ago”, insisting common sense had "gone and it ain't safe any more”.

Brian Lester said you had to anticipate what other drivers around you were going to do.

"Unfortunately there is a lot of them who don't know what they're doing themselves. What chance have you got?” he said.
