Watch: Hayley Marsten single makes it into Top 40

FORMER Gladstone singer Hayley Marsten is celebrating after her single Storm in a D Cup made it into the Top 40 country music chart.

Now based in Brisbane, Hayley released her debut EP Even earlier this year, with the help of Bill Chambers, father of country music star Kasey Chambers.

The EP was recorded in December and launched at the Rocky Glen Hotel in Gladstone in April.

Hayley found out on Wednesday that she'd debuted at number 40, after a radio host sent her a message on Facebook.

"I'm actually really sick so I was about to have a nap.

"I thought (the message was about) playing my single but turns out they were mentioning all the artists who had entered the charts for the first time, and there I was," she said.

"It's my favourite song on the EP.

"I wrote it about people saying to me that I should change the way I dress or what I looked like ... (the song) is about celebrating the little things that make you unique."

The 21-year-old hopes to be back in Gladstone in September.

She's already half way through writing her first album, which she hopes to release in the next two years.

Hayley moved to Brisbane in 2013.

"It's busy, I'm doing two internships, I have a part time job and I'm doing uni, but I love being busy.

"I'd rather be run off my feet than the phone not ring at all."
