Vouchers to help families enjoy sport

ROUND 12 of the Get Started Vouchers will open at 8am on Wednesday.

Get Started Vouchers assist children and young people who can least afford to join a sport or active recreation club.

Eligible children and young people can apply for a voucher valued up to $150, which can be redeemed at a sport or recreation club that is registered for Get Started Vouchers.

Children aged 5 to 17 (inclusive) and whose families hold a valid Centrelink Health Care Card are eligible to apply.

Remember that these vouchers are distributed on a first-in basis and the allocation is usually exhausted quite quickly.

Oz Tag sign-on

OZTAG is a limited contact sport based on the rules of rugby league.

There is no tackling.

The aim is to grab the 'TAG' from the side of your opponent's shorts to stop them from scoring a try.

Strict rules regulate the game in regards to contact so you can be assured safety is one of Oztag's priorities.

Ipswich Oztag runs a junior competition in spring/summer, which this year will kick off on Wednesday, September 12.

The season goes for 12 weeks, including finals for ages under 10 and up.

You can sign up as an individual or get a team together to play.

Games are played from 5pm on a Wednesday afternoon at the Tivoli Sporting Complex.

Ipswich futsal

FUTSAL is a fast and exciting five-a-side version of outdoor football, that is excellent for developing skills and fitness, as well as being a great deal of fun, as all players are actively involved in the game.

It is played with a small (size 3-4) low bounce ball on an indoor court (e.g. basketball court) with touchlines.

This makes for a fast paced game where every player is actively involved in the game, having fun and getting lots of touches of the ball.

The next competition at Ipswich Futsal commences on October 8, 2018.

Leading up to that Ipswich Futsal are also offering a four week academy for ages U8 to U12 boys and girls.
