Long snake short on truth

IF YOU were one of the people genuinely freaked out by this picture, join the club.

The frightening photograph of an 8m-long brown snake went viral across the Coast this week.

It was said to be spotted at Kawana Forest, slithering alongside the road and scaring the pants off every person that passed it.

But never fear, this snake is a fake and is actually a sculpture situated alongside a road in Alstonville in northern NSW.

The hoax was streamed internationally last year and even appeared in a US newspaper after it was said to be on the loose in Louisiana.
