Viewers crown MasterChef finale tops
TOOWOOMBA viewers have given the crown to MasterChef Australia.
The audience numbers for the winner episode peaked at 33,134 viewers as Diana Chan took out the popular cooking competition by one point.
The penultimate episode had an audience average of 23,682 tuning in.
The ninth season of the show didn't hold back challenging Chan and runner-up, Queenslander Ben Ungermann in the nail-biting finale.
One of the toughest three-round challenges in the show's history saw both Chan and Ungermann attempt the Trio of Fruits, set by "Queen of Chocolate" Kirsten Tibballs.
While Ungermann best replicated the sweet dish, Chan's collective score saw her claim victory with a grand total of 90 points, just one point ahead of Ungermann on 89.
As winner of MasterChef Australia, Chan walked away with a cash prize of $250,000 and a monthly column in Australia's leading premium food magazine, Delicious.
Across regional Queensland, MasterChef Australia for that episode won its timeslot with a commercial share of 40.4 per cent.
The 25 - 54 audience demographic across the state also pushed the episode into the number one position in its timeslot, peaking at 51,675 and an audience average of 46,507 and a 41.3 per cent commercial share.
