THE view from the couch has been a little static over the past few days.

City residents are frustrated after the television retune left one of the major networks off-air.

WIN viewers felt boxed in on Wednesday and Thursday when they lost signal.

The ABC and WIN changed frequencies on Wednesday. The retune process means the stations could be offline for hours.

One viewer said TV watchers were feeling confused.

"Any chance you guys could look into why some TV channels aren't working after the digital re tune?" Facebook user Sellin Up said.

"Seems to be a lot of people around town scratching their heads."

The retune was scheduled to avoid evenings and weekends.

"There may be some temporary disruption to all TV services on retune day," a Department of Communications spokesperson said.

"Service outages on the days before and after the retune may also be necessary, due to work being conducted at the transmission site.

"As the retune simply moves free-to-air TV channels to a new location on the broadcast spectrum, it is unlikely to change TV reception or coverage."
