VIDEO: Truckie Tony shares tips on how to pull over safely

SOCIAL media star truckie Tony Fulton wants all motorists to be safe on the highways.

That why he created a video, posted to his Facebook page Tones Truckin' Stories, to educate all drivers on how to pull up safely on a highway.

He made the video after hearing of a few incidents where cars and motorcycles pulled over in unsafe spots.

He shared tips on what to do when police pull you over, pulling up on blind corners and not pulling up on the right-hand side of the highway.

He encouraged drivers to "exercise your right to find a safe place to pull over when you see those angry lights go off in the mirror".

"You don't have to pull over there right then, take your time to get to a spot that's safest for you, the police and other road users," he said.

He also encouraged drivers to park as far left on the side of the road when pulling over because everyone wanted to stay safe.

"Don't just park on the fogline because the police officer has to protect themselves as well so just try and make everything as safe as possible.

Pulling up on the right side of the right-hand lane was also a no-no.

"A lot of instances the left-hand emergency lane is wider and sometimes there's not even one on the right-hand side so just get to the left."

"Laws have changed and as drivers we have to adapt to that so hopefully take a few of these on board and hopefully in the future there is not going to be these situations," he said.
