Video: Mayor may have future in country music

IF Gladstone mayor Gail Sellers decides to give up her day job, she may just have a future singing the blues.

Cr Sellers got up on stage and performed at the Elders Gladstone Country Music Festival at the weekend, joining the band in singing a localised version of Johnny Cash song Jackson.

She sang: "Go on down to Gladstone, go ahead and make your wealth.

"Don't make a plan you hard working man, make a success out of yo-self."

The impromptu performance was well received by the crowd.

The music festival was held at the Gladstone Entertainment Centre, after having been postponed from its original February date on the weekend Cyclone Marcia passed by.

The event had to be rescheduled because the entertainment centre was being used as an evacuation centre.

The weekend was organised by the Gladstone Country Music Club.
