Evan Jones

VETERAN owner/driver Evan Jones has been driving interstate for the past 45 years and is one of the true gentlemen of the highways and byways.

Big Rigs saw Evan at the Bohle Little Acre Roadhouse in North Queensland on May 15 as he was near his Kenworth T904 powered by a Caterpillar C-15.

"I am celebrating my 65th birthday tomorrow and I still enjoy life as a truckie as I did all those years ago," said.

Evan is based at Ascot and had hauled up machinery to Townsville for the NQ Field Days.

"I will probably get a backload taking some of it back in three days time when it finishes," he said.

The rig is called Toy Hauler because often tows a 12m long fifth wheeler caravan when Evan and wife Gayle take a break.

It was a great pleasure to yarn to Evan and his life experiences.
