Reader's "rant" on Neumann riddled with "mistakes"
ONCE again, your partisan correspondent, A. Vaughan, Wulkuraka (QT, 9/4), attacks the Federal Member for Blair, Shayne Neumann, (the Shadow Minister for Ageing and the Shadow Minister for Indigenous Affairs) with spurious accusations and for doing his job.
His/her latest rant reminds me of the line from George Eliot's, Middlemarch, where she says, "And the power of generalising gives men so much the superiority in mistake over the dumb animals".
Riddled with generalisations, mistakes and weird similes, his/her letter is a classic example of conflating Federal and State issues based on personal ideology, partial information and supposition.
A Vaughan asks, "since when has Blair moved to Tasmania"?
The insinuation being that a Shadow Minister or Minister should not go outside their own electorate to talk about their portfolio obligations, in this instance, Aged Care.
Does he/she ask, "since when has Ryan moved to the ACT"?
Alternatively, "since when has Moncrieff moved to Hong Kong"?
The answer is a resounding, "No he/she does not", not because "All they seem to be interested in is their own gain", but because they are members of the LNP and in his/her eyes they can do no wrong.
In addition, how do you know that Shayne Neumann is not "fighting for their cause"?
Just because you read his Twitter account and there is no mention of it there, do not assume that he is not involved in this Qld Government issue.
As for the sentencing of the offender and his "short sentence" take it up with the appropriate authorities, in this case the Attorney General's Department or your State Member of parliament.
So, do not make assumptions unless you know the full story, and if in doubt ask the person.
