Ute driver, 18, dies in crash after colliding with truck

A YOUNG man has died after colliding with a truck near Coomandook on the Dukes Hwy this morning. 

The red utility hit an oncoming truck with Victorian plates just north of Goodale Rd about 5.30am on Monday, reported the Adelaide Advertiser. 

The ute driver, an 18-year-old from Aldinga Beach, died at the scene while the truck driver was taken to the Murray Bridge hospital.

The S&S Logistics truck, which was travelling in the direction to Adelaide, had its front tyres almost completely stripped from the impact.

It is unknown whether the truck driver was injured or not. 

The red ute was damaged beyond recognition, while oil leaked from the vehicles on to the bitumen.

Major Crash was at the scene for several hours and Dukes Hwy was closed between Mallee Hwy and Old Dukes Hwy.
