URGENT RECALL: Car jack could falter and crush mechanic

THE Australian Competition and Consumer Commission issued an urgent recall for GPC Asia Pacific 6000 kg ratchet-type vehicle support stands.

The product has a faulty main column and may fracture, rather than bend, if a load is dropped on it.

This could lead to the vehicle on top falling on the person working underneath, causing serious injury or death.

The product was sold at Repco stores national from November 8, 2013 to February 16, 2018.

Customers are to cease using this product immediately and return the product to the nearest Repco store for a full refund.
