United to host football sign-on day for players

FOOTBALL: The Stanthorpe United Redbacks club is hoping for a good season and would love for you to be a part of it.

Registrar Rose-Alba Musumeci said this was the club's first time hosting a sign-on and information day off the football grounds.

She said in previous years, the club had hosted an information and sign-on day at its playing fields.

"We always have some kind of welcome. We do different things but it's always been on our field,” Musumeci said.

This year the club will hold the event at Stanthorpe Piazza. Musumeci said it was a great opportunity for returning players and prospective players to learn more about the club.

"You can meet some of the coaches and meet the committee,” she said.

She said it would be great to see the day attract a strong response, and hoped the community would support all clubs in the Football Stanthorpe competition.

"We want to see all the clubs do active recruiting drives for players,” she said.

"We want to use this as a good opportunity for Football Stanthorpe and for the kids.”

Musumeci said the United Redbacks was a warm and welcoming club.

"It's a very friendly, easy-going club,” she said.

"We give the new players and old players more confidence in their soccer skills.”

United also runs many community events, including last year's Pink Socks fundraiser.

"We do a lot of things outside of the soccer field as well,” she said.

She said there would be a computer available on-site for players to sign up on the day with the assistance of the committee if required.

The United Redbacks sign-on and information day will be at Stanthorpe Piazza, from 9am-1pm next Saturday, February 11. Also visit myfootballclub.com.au.
