Union set to secure the Turtles’ future

UNION: It's a match made in rugby union heaven.

Further strengthening their position in the sport in Bundaberg, the Turtles have aligned themselves with the Brothers Sports Club.

The side become the 12th club, in juniors and seniors, to be affiliated with the brand.

Providing a secure future the partnership also gives the team the perfect chance to add to their seven straight Spring Cup titles, while keeping their colours and identity.

At this stage the only change will be the name with the side to be called either Brothers Turtles or Turtles Brothers.

"It's effective as of now," Turtles coach Luke McCloskey said.

"They've welcomed us in with open arms."

McCloskey stressed though the side would still look like the Turtles of old.

"We'll still have our independence and keep the brand," he said.

"What it will do is give us a fantastic facility to call our home and attract more players and tap into the resources of Brothers."

The move also provides the opportunity for the Turtles to host home games at Brothers Sports Complex during the next season of the Spring Cup.

Brothers Sports Club president Mark Barrett said it was an easy decision.

"We've covered just about every sport but not rugby union," he said.

"We have the facilities and the opportunity to give them a home."

Barrett now hopes the side can deliver eight straight titles next year.

"We have the ability to grow with the club," he said.

"If they continue to back us we'll continue to back them as a club."

The Spring Cup starts in October.
