IF you want a job when you finish studying, Toowoomba's University of Southern Queensland is the uni for you, according to the Federal Government's new MyUniversity website.
The website, which went live nationally yesterday, ranked USQ as the second-best university in Queensland for the number of students who find full-time work on completion of their studies.
Figures showed 81.4% of students at USQ went on to find work, a figure that USQ acting vice-chancellor Professor Graham Baker said was reflective of the university's curriculum.
He said that USQ had always prided itself on offering courses that were designed around industry needs and that the practical components of its degrees ensured that students had the necessary skills that employers wanted.
The website, which allows students to compare Australia's 39 public universities in areas such as student satisfaction and staff to student ratios, has not come without its share of controversy.
However, Prof Baker said it was how people chose to use the website that was important.
"The website is still evolving and getting it right is essential for the reputation of universities operating in an increasingly competitive market brought on by the demand-driven enrollment system," he said.
