FRESH from claiming the first silverware of the season by winning the Anzac Cup final, Richmond Rovers will switch focus to the premiership in an away game against a dangerous Goonellabah in FNC premier league soccer tonight.

While Rovers have attracted plenty of attention with their undefeated start and cup success, Goonellabah has flown under the radar and is also undefeated.

In fact, the Hornets are on top of the ladder with a better goal difference than Rovers after scoring an incredible 21 goals in their three wins.

Like Rovers, the Hornets are bristling with attacking options including strikers Batok Ring, Matt Armstrong, Dave Annetts and Lloyd Howard, along with in-form midfielders Kaiden Powell and Matt Weir.

Their defence has also been solid, with John Eakin and Matt Graham conceding just two goals.

New coach Brendan Logan has quickly moulded the side into a well-rounded unit but knows tonight will be the acid test against the full- strength major premiers.

"We've done well so far but Rovers are the best team in the comp and now we'll find out just how far we've progressed," Logan said.

"It's all about attitude for us. We have to believe that we can win it, and there will be no excuses if we don't."

In the only change for the Hornets, midfielder Jason Woollett comes in for the suspended Powell.

Kick-off is 8pm.

Tomorrow, Casino will host the in-form Bangalow; Lennox Head is at home to a still winless Thistles; and Italo Stars have the home advantage at Barrow Lane, North Lismore, against Alstonville.

On Sunday, Byron Bay will look to bounce back from their big loss to Rovers in the cup final with an away win against Lismore Workers.
