Two people die in separate collisions with trucks
IT'S been a sad weekend on the roads, with two people dying in crashes with trucks.
A mad died in a crash with a cattle train at Muckadilla, west of Roma, when a four-wheel-drive collided with a the road train, which was carrying a 150 head of cattle on Saturday night.
Police said the prime mover rolled, causing the vehicle's cabin and trailers to catch fire.
The 47-year-old male driver of the road train was not seriously injured, however the sole occupant and driver of the four-wheel-drive died at the scene.
A number of cattle were also killed in the collision, with multiple more being euthanized due to extensive injuries.
The forensic crash unit is also investigating another fatal crash from Friday night when a Suzuki Swift travelling on the Bruce Highway south of Sarina collided head-on with a B-double travelling in the opposite direction.
The driver of the car, a 54-year-old woman from New South Wales, suffered significant injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The 50-year-old male driver of the truck was not seriously injured.
