Senior Lib's 'porn star tweet adds fuel to Indonesian fire

A TWITTER message from a senior Liberal Party figure has added fuel to the diplomatic fire burning between Australia and Indonesia.

As Prime Minister Tony Abbott again refused to apologise for a phone tapping scandal on Thursday, the tweet has sparked calls for the advisor to be sacked.

The Tweet, from lobbyist and conservative advisor Mark Textor, likened Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa to a 1970s porn star.

"Apology demanded from a bloke who looks like a 1970s Pilipno (sic) porn star and has ethics to match," the verbatim tweet read.

Mr Textor, who was known for provoking controversy on the online medium, followed the message with a defence of the phone tapping, writing that "no Indonesians were ever bombed in Australia".

The messages sparked calls from a raft of Labor party figures, including Deputy Opposition Leader Tanya Plibersek.

It has added to the growing tensions between the two countries, after Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono wrote to Mr Abbott seeking an apology.

Mr Abbott said in parliament on Thursday he was working on a speedy and courteous response to the letter, but did not go into detail about what his response may be.
