T.V. host hands high rating to lethal pair

THE Footy Show host Beau Ryan has tipped the Brisbane Broncos to emerge victorious in this weekend's local derby with the Gold Coast Titans.

Ryan visited the Ipswich Jets yesterday to film his television segment 'Beau Knows' and will cross live from Ipswich during tonight's episode of The Footy Show.

The former Wests Tigers and Cronulla Sharks winger retired in 2014 due to an ongoing neck injury.

After his retirement from professional football the former New South Wales schoolboy turned his attention to media where he has been a regular feature on Channel 9.

Ryan heaped praise on the Broncos after a stunning win on Friday night against their 2015 grand final rivals, North Queensland.

He said he expected Brisbane to continue their stellar start to the season, despite the Titans winning three from four without star halfback, Kane Elgey.

"I think the Broncos will be too good," the 30-year-old said.

"The Titans have had a great start to the year with some big wins but I think Brisbane will be too strong.

"They lost their best player (Elgey) before the first ball was kicked and then lost James Roberts to Brisbane."

Roberts made news headlines in the off-season when he transferred from the Gold Coast to Brisbane after a forged signature on his contract allowed the speedster to test the market.

On Friday he will face-off against his former teammates for the first time.

Ryan joked that the Gold Coast would be ready for the Broncos winger.

"I think Greg Bird texted him before the game last week and said he'll meet him next week," he said.

"I think the reception will be (a bit cold)."

With all three Queensland teams in the top eight after four rounds of football, Ryan said the sunshine state had plenty of talent on offer.

"Queensland have some fantastic rivalries," he said.

"Brisbane will always be a powerhouse but it's great to see more people supporting North Queensland.

"There's only one point between the two every time they play at the moment."

With Ipswich product Anthony Milford producing some of his best football last week, the former Wests Tigers star tipped the five-eight to feature for Queensland at Origin level.

"He's (Milford) just too good," he said.

"So is Ben Hunt. Between them and Daly Cherry-Evans they will be the Queensland halves for the next 10 years for sure."

As a proud NSW supporter, Ryan said he would love to tempt another Queensland talent across the border.

"Michael Morgan is a terrific player who can play anywhere," he said.

"I think he is another player who will be a massive part of the Queensland side in the future.

"I'd like to see him trade his birth certificate for NSW."

Ryan joined the Ipswich Jets yesterday for their Tuesday training session.

After hearing that Jets speedster Marmin Barba had scored a hat-trick on the weekend Ryan said he and brother Ben Barba must have done some re-evaluating during the off-season.

"Benny has probably invited him down onto his yacht in Sydney and had a word," Ryan said.
