TV focus to give Coast a boost

THE Sunshine Coast's best food and destinations will be showcased to audiences across Australia in an upcoming episode of Channel Nine's Postcards, giving the region a boost before the summer holidays.

Sunshine Coast destinations and award-winning restaurants including Spirit House, the Eumundi markets and the RACV Noosa Resort will be among the locations promoted in the travel program, which will air on October 7.

Spirit House Restaurant and Cooking School owner Helen Brierty said the exposure was perfect for her business and would create a flow-on effect for the entire region for accommodation providers, transport and attractions.

"Our restaurant and cooking school are extremely popular with visitors from Melbourne," she said.

"Local accommodation and transport businesses tell us that most of their bookings come from people travelling to Yandina and the Sunshine Coast for our cooking school.

"We appreciate the Sunshine Coast Destination Ltd's support in attracting and supporting promotional opportunities for the Spirit House and the wider region."

Sunshine Coast Destination Ltd CEO Steve Cooper said that the program would provide a boost to the region through the sheer number of viewers the program reached through its target market in Victoria.

"Postcards attracts from 350,000 up to 500,000 weekly viewers in one of our key markets, Victoria," Mr Cooper said.

He said the show was a welcome opportunity for the region.

Model Rebecca Judd will present the Sunshine Coast episode of Postcards.

The half-hour program airs at 5.30pm every Sunday.
