AS THE final step in Australia's move to digital-only TV, all channels in Coffs Harbour will change frequencies on Tuesday, with viewers needing to retune their digital TV, set-top box or digital TV recorder to find the channels again.

Some viewers in Coffs Harbour area may be receiving their TV signals from different towers, which will retune at different dates in 2014.

These moves will free up broadcasting spectrum so that it can be used for new services such as mobile broadband. Just like the switch to digital-only TV, the retune has been carefully planned to make sure the change is as easy as possible.

If viewers are missing channels, they can start by pressing the "menu" button on their remote then look for their "set-up" options. Next, they should select words like: "channels" or "auto-tuning".

Viewers might want to write down their favourite channel, program recordings or parental lock settings before they retune as retuning might delete these settings.

There may be some disruption to all TV services for several hours today due to work being conducted at the transmission site. Viewers should wait until after the expected retune time of 3:30pm before retuning.

There may also be outages to all TV services over the next two days. Viewers will not need to retune again - the TV services will reappear once the work at the transmission site has been completed.
