TSRC tolls are just the beginning
THIS is a better outcome than I envisaged, as I feared that it would be much higher.
I personally don't believe we should have to pay tolls at all. We are already paying for roads in our income, rego, fuel, GST and other taxes, this is double dipping from people by dipsh*** that are incapable of managing a budget and running a country.
But those believing the hurt stops here, brace yourselves, this is just the beginning.
Having worked on the project and witnessing substandard practices and corner cutting, I won't be surprised if we see sub-grade failures, especially on the return of excessive wet weather.
I hope I am wrong, but closures could well be something we will be seeing as a result of subsidence of the road.
The other issue with obstruction of traffic flow will be the width of the road traffic surface area.
With only two lanes either way on the eastern and middle sections, and one lane either way on the western section, combined with generally no more than a metre outside the fog line, a simple breakdown will cause significant delays.
This is down to poor planning and the need for the politicians to get the job done as quickly and cheaply as possible so as they could claim the credit.
