Truckin' the border: Dave McCormack

MAKING a late Friday afternoon stop on the border recently was Dave McCormack, who was behind the wheel of 2014-model Kenworth T909 painted in the distinctive blue and white colours of Camlin Investments.

Towing a single Coregas-liveried tanker, Dave had loaded liquefied oxygen out of Port Kembla and was Melbourne bound down the Hume and Dave reckoned his Cummins powered Kenworth handles the job quite well.

He was having a bit of a change of run pulling a single trailer, as he normally tows a double "pretty much anywhere”, usually heading to the northern parts of Australia.

With a strong family background in truck driving Dave first hit the highway in 2001 and really enjoys getting out in the backblocks.

"Anywhere west of the Great Divide - I am not a fan of the coast roads, I just love getting out in the open country.”

Dave and his family are based just out of Tamworth in New South Wales and enjoy getting out and doing a spot of camping when not on the road.
