John Bailey

OWNER/driver John Bailey was heading for lunch when Big Rigs saw him on August 24 near Charters Towers.

John drives a Kenworth 401 powered by a 400hp Caterpillar which is ideal for the work he does.

He is based at Townsville and his company's name is John Bailey Transport.

"I have been a truck driver since 1984 and an owner/driver for the past 12 years," he said.

John carries building products and said the highway he disliked driving on the most was between Ayr and Townsville.

That is an 88km stretch of the Bruce Hwy which is narrow in sections and has low-lying parts that flood after any decent rain.

Outside his work time, John says he enjoys riding motorbikes and water-skiing.
