Truckin' in the Tropics: Jason Bradford
JASON Bradford drives a Western Star 4000 for Brett Ryan out of Malanda.
For those who haven't had the pleasure of a northern trip, it is one of the most scenic towns on the Atherton Tablelands.
The 49-year-old Jason was fuelling up at the Malanda Roadhouse in January when Big Rigs saw him.
"I have been a truckie for 30 years and love the life here,” he said.
Jason was hauling milk from Malanda to Townsville and gets to travel along many roads including the Kuranda Range, Gillies, Palmerston and Bruce Highways.
"Of them I hate travelling along the Kuranda Range especially if it is wet,” he said.
When Jason manages to get time off, his main recreation is to head up to Cape York Peninsula for a spot of fishing.
"I go fishing for barramundi in creeks on private properties,” he said.
Jason's main dislike on the roads are backpackers and tourists.
"They often do stupid things,” he said.
Like any true North Queensland truck driver, he likes the Malanda Roadhouse because of its location and friendly service.
