James Darcey

OWNER driver James Darcey was hauling a tractor from Longford to Smithton in northern Tasmania when we saw him on January 3.

The 38-year-old was driving a Kenworth T350 powered by a Cummins 400hp engine and with an 18 speed Road Ranger gearbox.

"I have been an owner driver for 15 years and used to play Australian Rules football for Oatlands Club," he said.

His hobby when not working is motor bike riding which is also popular with many other Tasmanians in the road transport industry.

"I go all over Tassie to ride and love life down here," he said.

His favourite roadhouse is at Detention River because he said the coffee is good and there is ample parking.
