Annette McPhee

LAUNCESTON based Annette McPhee hopes to soon become one of the few women in Tasmania to drive heavy trucks.

The 27-year-old is employed by Lazarno Pty Ltd and drives a light Toyota across the second biggest city in Tasmania.

We saw her in early January as she took gear from the Toyota to clean public toilets in beautiful City Park.

"I was born and raised in Hobart and have been in Launceston for the past four years," she said.

"I really want to be a full fledged truckie and there is not many lady drivers of big rigs down here. I have only seen one."

Having worked for the company for the past three months, Annette said getting used to the one way streets in the CBD had proven tricky.

"I get to meet a lot of interesting people around here," she said.
