Alan Bagley

FIFTY-year-old truckie Alan Bagley had just pulled up near the barge ramp on Palm Island when Big Rigs saw him on January 18.

Alan works for Townsville-based Azkeen Industries and was in a Kenworth 604.

"I have to pick up mesh and an excavator for the area here near the outstation," he said.

Alan said he has been coming across the briny with his truck by barge "on and off since October".

It is the ideal location to enjoy his favourite recreation of fishing.

"I also got out to Brambles Reef recently and we caught coral trout, mackerel and cobia," he said.

When on Palm Island which is 48 nautical miles from Townsville, Alan likes going down to the local Coolgaree Bar and Grill after work.

The views from the beer garden which is metres from the ocean are spectacular.
