Truckies not only ones who have issues with rude caravanners

IT SEEMS truckies aren't the only ones who are having problems with caravan drivers lately.

The Townsville Bulletin reported that local shop owners in Ayre have been "brought to boiling point" by caravanners taking up car parks.

The north Queensland newspaper reported that the shop owners were demanding action after council indicated to the Department of Transport and Main Roads that they would not install centre parking in the area.

One shop owner, who requested not to be named, said staff members had been abused by caravan owners after requesting they move to a backstreet.

"We had an incident last week where we had three caravans parked out the front, blocked the driveways of the houses next door, we had to turn one of our customers away that wee needed to unload one of their farm utilities off the truck because they were blocking our driveway," the shop owner said.

Deputy Mayor Sue Perry said council encouraged caravanners to use designated caravan bays located on Graham St.
