Truckies help out stranded hitchhikers

HITCHHIKERS tell great stories, some truckies say.

Big Rigs social media follower Trevor Henning said he'd picked up hitchhikers a "couple of times” and "would most likely do it again”.

He was responding to a post on Facebook after Big Rigs columnist Spy shared a story about hitchhikers.

"One of the most memorable was an express trip from Darwin back to Brisbane with a French backpacker,” Trevor said.

"Surprisingly how quick time flies when you've got good company and someone to talk and carry on with.”

Nick Mundy said he also picked up a "bloke in army gear one day”.

"Turns out he was SAS and his team were doing a training day with air drops and parachutes and the wind took him off course. I lent him my phone and got him back to his teammates.”
