Truckies caught in a dangerous shortcut
TRUCKIE Timothy Leary has encouraged Australians not to "blame all truckies because of a handful doing the wrong thing”.
His comments come after it was revealed that Ipswich City Council was investigating claims from Goodna residents that heavy vehicle drivers were taking a potentially dangerous shortcut on their way to the Redbank industrial estate.
It is understood that the council had conducted enforcement against offenders in the past, but the problem had worsened in recent times.
"Most of us are only trying to make a living,” Timothy said.
"Our jobs are hard enough without people making it harder. You all go to the supermarket and hardware stores etc and it all gets there on the back of one of us.”
Grant Williams said: "How do people actually think stuff gets delivered to stores? Magic?”
Daniel James Seibel wondered about the "wanker” car drivers in that area.
"Redbank has always been industrial and including Goodna.”
