Truckie talks of lucky escape in Beaudesert

TRUCKIE Greg Watt was surprised to see a massive concrete girder through the front of the BCU Bank in Beaudesert last week.

Mr Watt said he was driving through town about 2pm last Thursday (April 18) when he came upon the scene.

"It was pretty lucky.  Usually on Thursdays there is a lot of people walking along there," he said.

It had looked as if something let go underneath the 30tonne concrete girder, which was on route to Casino.

"I'm glad it happened there and not at 100kmh on the highway," Mr Watt said.

 

No one was injured, he said.
